A Company Who Really Knows Their Eye Wear
Tactical RX is a specialty company that makes ballistic rated and sporting glasses out of Denver, CO. It’s owned and operated by Master Optician Brett Hunter, who is a veteran of the US Army. Tactical RX offers a wide variety of eye wear that can be easily fitted for prescriptions or just used as safety glasses. Being a guy who has worn glasses since the 4th grade, Brett wanted to see a better offering of prescription safety and ballistic rated glasses in the market. So, he set out to make his own. This has blazed a trail for Tactical RX to be able to offer the public exceptional quality sporting type eye wear at a reasonable price. This is exceptional news if you’re someone who has to rely on prescription lenses but who also enjoys the great outdoors and shooting sports.
Shooting Glasses That Can Take a Shot, Literally
I had the pleasure of meeting Brett at the fall 2016 Big 3 East event in Daytona Beach, FL. He was kind enough to speak with me and show me some of the products that he had brought with him. One of the pairs off to the side of the table really caught my attention. The lenses were all shot up with buckshot form a .12 gauge shotgun. Apparently, he took a pair of his ballistic glasses over to one of the ranges at the event and proved to everyone that his glasses were as tough as he says they are. These things were very impressive as they appeared to do a good job as you can see in the picture below. Hey, if you’re unlucky enough to take a shot near the face from a shotgun, and you’re wearing a pair of glasses from Tactical RX, at least your eyes will be good to go. Always a plus to every situation right?
More Than Worth The Money
Then Brett handed me a pair of his non-prescription glasses and told me to go play with them on the range. It couldn’t have been a better time as I had originally gone up to ask him if he might know why my expensive shooting glasses were delaminating. I was having a hard time shooting as the day progressed on due to that problem. After using my new Tactical RX shooting glasses over the course of the last 4 months, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these to everyone. They are very comfortable and offer an excellent field of view. Another big plus is that the frames aren’t too thick either. That is all too often overlooked by those who wear ear muff type hearing protection. If the frames are too thick near the ear, it pushes the muffs away from the ear. That can lead to other “issues.” Thankfully Brett thought of that when he designed his sporting glasses. They fit snug and allow your ear protection to stay where it is.
Check out Tactical RX on their webpage or social media applications. You can’t go wrong owning a pair or three of these glasses. Plus, while not only purchasing top shelf shooting glasses, you’re also supporting an American Veteran owned business. That’s a win-win in my book.
